Many, if not all, of our spreadsheets involve tax calculations based on US Tax Code. US taxes are a complex labyrinth of tax laws (defined in Title 26 of the United States Code), Treasury Regulations (found in Title 26 of the Code of Federal Regulations), and official tax guidance (including revenue rulings, revenue procedures, notices, and announcements).
Tax laws are constantly changing and it would be impossible to account for every possible tax situation in these kinds of products. Instead, we have tried to cover the most common situations that we think would have the broadest applicability.
